Lately, many students have been carrying their phones with them. Some might say they need it for safety or for emergencies. Either way, students should put away their phones, because it is the law.

Many students are uncomfortable with putting their prized possessions into a locker due to concerns regarding theft; however, there has been no indication that any theft has or will occur. Valley Stream South made the switch from lockers with codes to a fingerprint-type input connected with each student's ID card. With this extra layer of security protecting students' belongings, students have nothing to fear as their belongings are securely locked away.

Other students believe they need their cell phones to always be prepared for any emergencies. If family emergencies were to occur, then your parents can easily reach the school through the school's phone number, and vice versa. South is a place all students should feel safe, and if any school emergencies were to occur, the school can easily contact your parents.
