Back to School Night
by Simrah Nageer

On Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., Valley Stream South High School hosted Back to School Night for parents. Attendees began in the lobby before following their children’s daily class schedules in 10-minute intervals. During each period, parents met subject teachers, chatted with fellow class parents, and gained a clearer understanding of the curriculum for the upcoming year.
Student volunteers from various clubs guided parents through the hallways, while table setups in the lobby offered South merchandise and PTSA memberships to help families stay connected. Schedules were available in the cafeteria, and during their child’s designated lunch period, parents met with guidance counselors to learn about academic and personal support services at South.
Overall, Back to School Night provided an engaging opportunity for parents to experience a day in the life of a South student and preview the school year ahead.
