Every generation has a movie that takes the world by storm—from soundtracks to toys and everything in between. For most South students, they might remember seeing Frozen everywhere growing up. Kids all over the playground sang “Let It Go” word for word, bar for bar. For Generation Alpha, K-Pop Demon Hunters and its hit track “Golden” have taken the top spot.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, is about just what it sounds like: three K-Pop idols are tasked with not only performing for their millions of fans but also fighting off demons to protect them. This movie is special to both kids and adults alike, as they are drawn to the bright animation style, the catchy and melodic songs, and the emotional storytelling throughout the film.

Frozen wasn’t just popular because of its princesses and songs—the movie conveyed a positive message of perseverance. K-Pop Demon Hunters teaches this younger generation many things as well. There are themes of friendship, self-acceptance, teamwork, and owning your identity. The movie also promotes learning about Korean culture, with kids singing along to even the foreign lyrics and wearing new fashions.

In 2013, millions of little girls around the world dressed as Elsa for Halloween. Trick-or-treating in 2025, you probably spotted dozens of Rumi costumes, complete with her purple hair. The songs echo through the hallways of homes and schools.

The movie has also made its way to numerous social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, where you can find “edits” of people’s favorite songs and clips.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, just like Frozen, is a cultural phenomenon. Through female empowerment and captivating music, Generation Alpha is being brought together.
