World Hijab Day is on February 1, a day when people try on hijabs, promote the right to wear them, and work to combat discrimination. This year, like last year, the Muslim Association hosted an event on February 2 during which students and teachers alike had the opportunity to try on the hijab, make tasbihs (strings of prayer beads), and learn more about the Islamic religion. Snacks were available, officers volunteered or donated their own hijabs, and although the event lasted about 30–40 minutes, it was very successful. I personally try to wear and style my best hijabs to show support for the event, and I spread the news about it to my friends. So please, when the event is hosted again next year, do not forget to show your support!
